“GIVE” The Generous Life

My daddy says” You have two hands with one help yourself and with other help others”.  It was morning of 14th November when I woke up with loads of hugs and kisses from my parents not that they are any less every day but yes they accompanied a beautiful gift of stationery kit from them.  The gift brought such a big smile on my face.

It was when my dad was dropping me to school that I saw few street kids on roads begging for money. My dad asked them why they were not in school while some of them ran away and few told him they would attend the afternoon school.

My day in school was fine though something in my heart was bothering me so when mom came to pick me up I asked her if these kids ever got something special on eve children’s day like from their parents or in school. My mom said probably but wasn’t too sure.

But I was still thinking for what I have read in school is that Children’s day or Bal Divas in India is celebrated on birthday of Indian Leader Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru popularly known as Chacha Nehru for his contribution for wellbeing of children.

He made programmes which included free primary education, free meals including milk to the school children in order to prevent children from malnutrition in India.

I told mom can we do something to bring smile on faces of few kids and I was glad my mom supported my gesture. I told her that lets make small stationery kits and distribute it to kids in slums near our home. So mom and I went and bought small stationery kits to distribute among kids. The money spent was from my pocket money that was decided between me and my mom.

Smiles that are priceless….. With kids from slums In Bangur Nagar, Link Road, Goregaon West, Mumbai
With Kids on Traffic Signal- In Orbit Mall, Malad West, Mumbai.

My mom said she was proud of me but let me tell you I felt good and so much relaxed.

Mommy noticed the smile on my face and said “Happiness is in being the reason for others to smile”.

Every child has a Right to Free and compulsory Education yet there are hurdles that stay unresolved.

Little gypsy traveller requests readers of this post to Spread education…Sponsor a child’s Education and make a difference in their lives.
